Purolator Tackles Hunger in Our Communities
Each month, close to 900,000 Canadians - 38% of whom are children and youth - visit their local food bank1. That represents over 10 million trips each year by friends, neighbors and colleagues who need assistance putting food on the table. 2
When Purolator Tackle Hunger was established in 2003, we pledged to do two things: raise awareness about the plight of people living with hunger and build the capacity of frontline, grassroots organizations that support those affected.
With the support of our teammates, customers and suppliers, Purolator Tackle Hunger has distributed more than 4.3 million pounds of food to community groups offering direct, front-line, community-based support to individuals and families coping with hunger.
Our Singular Focus
We support the communities where we live, work and play by partnering with organizations committed to alleviating hunger in our communities. While there are many causes worthy of support, we believe that focusing our efforts on a singular cause allows us to make a more meaningful contribution to our communities.
Partnering with Purolator to Tackle Hunger
How Purolator can support your organization
We assist organizations committed to alleviating hunger by donating:
- Food drive kits;
- Transportation services in support of food drives;
- Employee volunteer hours; or
- Financial support for front-line services.
Although we will also consider requests for retired vans and trucks, please note that retired vehicles will normally require a significant financial investment to make them roadworthy 3.
Who is eligible for support
Requests for support will only be considered from organizations that:
- Have been operating for at least three years;
- Do not have a political or religious affiliation; and
- Work to alleviate hunger in a community in which Purolator operates.
Please note that while we understand the need is great, we are unable to respond to requests received directly from individuals.
